You’re driving. You’re trying to merge. Someone cuts you off and you feel yourself lose it. You start cursing, honking, yelling at the top of your lungs, and flipping people off. There's a part of you that is sitting back and watching yourself, amazed at how childish you’re acting. But the other part of you, the part that’s in control, can’t seem to stop.

That is your Oogie.

You’re a child. It’s your little brother’s birthday party and you can’t stand that he’s getting all the attention and so many new presents. Meanwhile, you get nothing and are supposed to be happy for him. You're steaming inside. You throw a tantrum and find ways to sabotage the party.

That is your Oogie.

Your Oogie is neither good nor bad. Sure, it can cause problems, but it's also the dynamic and creative part of who you are. It looks out for your best interest and ensures that you are safe. Having an Oogie is almost like having a pet. Left unchecked, it might destroy your yard or chew your furniture. But kept well-fed, well-slept, and on a leash, your Oogie can be your best friend. Having an Oogie is a big responsibility and, if we don’t take care of it and remind it who’s in charge, it can lead to a lot of trouble, unwanted consequences, and hurt feelings.

So what does your Oogie look like right now?
